Indonesia is the world’s largest archipelago, with over 17,000 islands spread across Southeast Asia and Oceania. About 6,000 of these islands are inhabited.
From Coral planting to turtle protection, our Eco-Ventures are packed full of exciting experiences that really help to make a difference to the ecosystems and species we work with.
Extensive experience scuba diving in a variety of conditions and whilst conducting a range of activities
Lombok has its own distinct culinary style, with dishes like Ayam Taliwang (grilled chicken with spicy sambal), Sate Rembiga (spiced skewered beef), and Plecing Kangkung (water spinach with sambal).
Indonesia is one of the worldโs most biodiverse countries, with unique flora and fauna. It is home to iconic species like the orangutan, Komodo dragon, and the endangered Javan rhinoceros.
The conservation facility is based within the Gita Nada Marine Park in the Sekotong region of Lombok. Gita Nada MPA is teeming with life and has a rich biodiversity, which ranges from the very small, like the pygmy sea horses โ infamous residents of sea fans โ to the very large such as passing sharks and a very elusive yet magnificent family of dugongs. Whilst the marine park is protected on paper, enforcement is lacking and the area is under threat from unsustainable fishing techniques, climate change, and the development of irresponsible tourism. There is also a great deal of restoration work that needs to be done resulting from historic dynamite fishing and bleaching events. Empirical data on the biodiversity of the area is also lacking and this is just one of the issues that we are working to remedy.
It is our belief that if we are to minimize or better still reverse, the negative effects that we are causing on the amazing organisms and ecosystems that we share the Earth with, this will only be achieved by research, understanding, and education.
Mankind has known the impacts of its actions and yet failed to do something for far too long. It is time we came together to change that.
We refuse to let ours be the generation that fails to act. We can deny the truth but we can not avoid it, and ifย we keepย making excuses to do nothing then we will very soon be facing a reality where too much destruction has been caused for us to recover.
So ask yourself:ย How many ecosystems must collapse? How many species must go extinct, so that our childrenย never get to admire or befriendย them? How long can we pretend that our โprogressโ is without consequence?
ITโS STILL NOT TOO LATE.
From Coral planting to turtle protection, our Eco-Ventures are packed full of exciting experiences that really help to make a difference to the ecosystems and species we work with. All of the activities you will take part in are based on our research, conservation, and education initiatives and are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to get hands-on with each and every one of them. Receive training from experienced marine biologists and take an active part in our marine & coral reef projects today.
Packing List:
The facility is based right on the beach, on the South-West spit of Lombok in a region called Sekotong. Due to the fact that tourism has not yet fully discovered this region the islands here are known as the Secret Gilis and are relatively unspoiled. We find ourselves hugely lucky that we rarely ever see other dive boats when we are out conducting our research and conservation activities, let alone other divers on the same reefs.
All your meals are provided during your stay and cooked by our staff, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. You will also be able to enjoy unlimited drinking water and hot drinks (tea and coffee).

ย The trip was a unique experience for me! My expectations were exceeded by far and I am glad to have found the project. If you don’t mind getting up at night on patrols to find turtles and eggs, this project is great. In addition to working at school, on the farm and collecting and recycling plastic waste on the beach, this project is very versatile and never gets boring. I can only recommend this project!
